Our Classes
St Oswald’s is a small school with mixed age classes. The school admits 20 children per year group (cohort) from Reception to Year 6. Due to the size of our school building, most classes have a total of 30 children from two year groups. The configuration of our classes means that children in Year 1 and Year 4 are split in two groups across two classes. Children in these year groups are placed into the class which provides the best balance for them academically and socially.
The number of children in our nursery varies across the school year. We have a ratio of 1:8 for our 3- and 4-year olds and a ratio of 1:5 for our 2-year-olds (adults:children).
